A proud father in British Columbia took to Twitter to share the note his son received from another classmate.
Ravi Kahlon said his 10-year-old son noticed a new student sitting by himself at lunch and decided to join him.
“Proud dad moment today,” Kahlon said. “My 10-year-old son saw a new kid sitting by himself. Another friend and he decided to hang out with him over lunch. He got this lovely note at the end of the day.”
Since being shared on January 14, the post has garnered more than 425,000 likes.
“As a kid that went to 6 different schools, this made me want to cry. I struggled so hard to make friends till date. Always being the new kid can be depressing and lonely, hugs to your son!” wrote one Twitter user.
“What I taught my kids from a young age. You see someone alone at school, or worse being purposefully isolated — you have only one thing to do — engage and inspire with kindness. Cool thing — they still do this in their college cafeterias. When I hear these stories, I realize there is hope,” another user wrote.
“Learning your kid did something nice is the best sort of pride. Years ago my kid was hiding under the slide because he had no one to play with, and a kid came and got him and had him play with his group. We’ve never forgotten,” another wrote.
